I'm strongly committed to the Bill or Rights and protections from search and seizure. To the extent not pre-empted by Federal law, telecommunications and personal privacy and security should be well protected. I applaud Apple's recent refusal to provide an encryption key to unlock a terrorist's smart phone. We should expect the government to use legitimate investigation practices instead of fear to gain cooperation in criminal investigations.
